  1. I recommend having a water sample taken to determine the hardness of the water. The local water company can make this type of check or you can take a sample to the nearest Sears repair center to have this check made. They can then offer you assistance on the type of water treatment that will best suit your needs.

  2. If the water fixtures have lime scale build-up, or the toilets have rust stains, or the dishwasher is full of calcium deposits, or soap doesn't suds up if you run a sink of hot water, you would probably do well to get, at the very least, a whole home water filtration system, a Kenmore Elite hybrid whole home water filter, or a water softener.
