Harley EVO 1340 1340cc Adjustable Pushrods push rods. Change out your push rods to an aluminum performance set capable of 600+ cam lift, without removing the seat!! Adjustable Pushrod Instructions 1) Remove Existing Pushrods. Use one of two methods: (a). Remove gas tanks and rocker boxes so you can slide the oe pushrods out from the top. You may want to note that they are different lengths and mark them accordingly for future use. (b). Slide the pushrod cover up and cut the oe pushrods with a bolt cutter. Make sure you keep any metal fragments from dropping down into the lifters. 2) Adjust each pushrod to its shortest length by turning the adjusting screw all the way in. 3) Each pushrod can now be assembled into one of the pushrod tubes and swung into place. Make sure the o-ring seals are intact at the top of the tube. 4) Hold the lower adjuster screw with a 9/32nds open-end wrench and turn the pushrod until it is long enough to stay in place before making a final length adjustment. 5) Remove the spark plugs. With all 4 pushrods in place, rotate the engine so any one cam lobe is at its lowest point. Then adjust the pushrod tip to remove all freeplay. The pushrod should be finger tight in the lifter seat. Use the 9/32nds wrench to hold the adjusting screw. 6) Once the pushrod is snug, hold the adjusting screw and turn the pushrod 4 full turns. Note the number above the flats for reference. Tighten the adjusting nut against the pushrod using two ½" wrenches. Do not exceed 15 ft. lbs of torque. 7) If the valve unseated during this procedure, wait 15-30 minutes for the lifter to bleed down before continuing on to the next pushrod. Repeat this procedure for each remaining pushrod. With all four pushrods correctly adjusted, the engine should turn freely without any binding. 8) Replace the pushrod cover tubes and spark plugs.
