This is just a separate transmitter at first, if you still need a receiver, please buy a complete kit or a separate receiver. Please check carefully whether your original transmitter panel contains a "FAN TIMER" button, if not, this transmitter cannot match your original receiver. You can also check the model nameplate on the back of your original transmitter to see if it is marked with "FAN-9T" and "L3HFAN-9T". You can purchase this transmitter for replacement only if it matches exactly. The corresponding receiver of this transmitter is FAN-28R (black), if your original receiver is other models such as the yellow FAN-18R (check the receiver model nameplate), please do not buy it. If you find that the transmitter does not match, please purchase a single 28R receiver. After replacing the receiver, you can use your ceiling fan perfectly.
This is the remote control for the ceiling fan. They should match the switches on the transmitter inside the ceiling fan.
As long as the fan has the receiver in it this remote will work with your Hampton Bay ceiling fans.
Just remember to set the 4 dip switches inside the battery compartment(they are kinda hidden behind the slot for the battery itself).
Look inside the old remote with the battery cover off, there is a series of "DIP" switches(4) with a pen.
Slide the switches in the new remote to match the same pattern as the old remote.
Replace the battery in the new remote and things should work.
There are 16 different frequencies for the Hampton Bay fans, so you would have to play with the combinations.
