The purpose of a topper is twofold- for adding more cushion to your bed as well as to create a natural sleeping surface. A typical mattress, by law, is treated with fire retardant chemicals. Placing a topper on top of the mattress creates a natural sleeping surface for your body to breathe and relax in a non-chemical environment.
